The grand opening of <a href=\"http:\/\/occinema.com\/2007\/08\/31\/westminister-mall-cinemas\/#more-173\" target=\"_blank\">United Artists&#8217; Westminister Mall 4<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cinelog.org\/cinelog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/westministeropening.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-289\" style=\"border: black 2px solid;\" title=\"Westminister Opening Boast\" src=\"http:\/\/cinelog.org\/cinelog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/westministeropening-253x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"253\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cinelog.org\/cinelog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/westministeropening-253x300.jpg 253w, https:\/\/cinelog.org\/cinelog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/westministeropening-126x150.jpg 126w, https:\/\/cinelog.org\/cinelog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/westministeropening.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 253px) 100vw, 253px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>In what might be the most exaggerated\u00a0statement in county cinema history, United Artists actually introduced their Westminster location, in the 8\/6\/74 Los Angeles Times,\u00a0with the fore mentioned boast.\u00a0Not surprisingly, reality\u00a0proved far less grand than what was promised.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Opened on August 7, 1974, the theatre was lackluster, even by mid 70&#8217;s standards.\u00a0Offering little more than the convenience of four\u00a0film choices, in a mall shopping setting, the Westminister 4 never made much of an impact on\u00a0the county movie going scene.\u00a0By the mid 80&#8217;s, Edwards had taken over the venue and added\u00a0Dolby stereo sound, but, as with many of the company&#8217;s competition acquisitions, little effort was placed in to maintaining the site.
